The Whole Armor of God. . .

I'm working on re-memorizing Ephesians 6:10-18.  I believe it is very important to have the Word of God inside of you.

Ephesians 6:10-18 KJV

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  (11)  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  (12)  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  (13)  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  (14)  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;  (15)  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  (16)  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  (17)  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:  (18)  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Helmet of salvation, gird your loins with truth, feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith. . .

Imaging being equipped with armor like a medieval knight. . . clanking down a dark alley-way.  Someone comes out of the shadows, with a baseball bat, and begins banging on your armor until you are knocked off your feet. . . there helpless like a turtle on its back, they open a gap in your armor, and are able to overcome you with a knife. . . all because you had no offense weapon with which to keep them at a distance. . .

From a verse in this passage:

Ephesians 6:17

And take the helmet of salvation,

and the sword of the Spirit,

which is the word of God:

All the other items listed are defensive, but the "sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God."  This is your only offensive spiritual weapon.  What if in your daily walk, you are spiritually attacked, and you have left your offensive weapon back on your dresser?  You are unable to repel the attack.

Jesus showed us the way.  In Matthew chapter 4, when He was tempted by the devil, every time He used the Word of God to repel the attack of the enemy, thus we also must do.  We must put the Word of God inside of us, so that we are never without our offensive weapon.

(Ephesians 6:11 KJV)

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Further meditating on this. . . Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. . .

Genesis 3:1 KJV

Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Eve was facing the devil in total innocence.  She had never experience evil in any form.  She had never been told a lie.  She had never been manipulated by anyone. . .She knew nothing about sin, and here in her innocence. . . in her physical and spiritual nakedness, for the first time, she faced not just any evil, but she faced evil incarnate. . . a fallen angel full of wiles and deception.  Her only two experiences with other intelligent beings were God, and Adam. . . nothing in her previous life's experiences prepared her for her encounter with the devil.

Paul tells us above that we must have the WHOLE armor of God, so that we can stand against the wiles of the devil. . . Eve had nothing to protect her.  Not to make excuses for her.  She was told by Adam, if not by God not to eat of the forbidden fruit. . . but we cannot throw a stone at Eve, when we all have also partaken of forbidden fruit. . . We knew. . . I knew that I was doing wrong, when I did it. . . I completely underestimated, like Eve, the consequences of my actions. . . I too like Eve was Spiritually naked. . . I must therefore avail myself of ALL the FULL armor of God, including the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. . .

I work almost every day on memorizing Scripture.  I want my Sword to be as long, and as sharp as possible to keep the evil one at a distance. . .

I love You my God. . .

I thank You for Your Word. . .
