Anxiety over Current Events

I spoke with two young people recently. Both have been filled with great anxiety and deep concern about current events. Both have been deeply influenced by Internet news and social media postings, to the point of effecting their mental well being and peace of mind.

From the perspective of 71 years on this earth, let me say, the world is not ending. The Internet magnifies everything in the hopes of making more money by gaining ever more clicks. This feeds on itself. The shrieks of outrage grow ever louder in our ears. . .

The sun will rise tomorrow. The sky will continue to give us sunshine and rain as needed and most importantly God is NEVER about hate.

Mark KJV 9:47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:

To draw a parallel. . . If Facebook, and social media and Internet news are offending you then remove them from your life. . . pluck them out. They are not essential. If they are doing you harm, get rid of them.

I pray this verse multiple times a day:

Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

I'm recently working on re-memorizing Psalm 1.

Psalms NLT 1:1-3 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. (2) But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. (3) They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.

. . . they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night.

Calm your mind. Fill it with thoughts of God. . .

Philippians NLT 4:8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Think on these things. Do not allow the world to rob you of your peace. . .

I love You my God. . .
Help us Lord. . .
