Laborers for the Harvest

Continuing with my study of the Hebrew word 'ruach' (Strong's H7307 & H7308), which often is translated in the KJV as spirit, or breath, or wind.

I ran across this verse:

Numbers 11:25 KJV
And the LORD came down in a cloud,
and spake unto him [Moses],
and took of the spirit* that was upon him,
and gave it unto the seventy elders:
and it came to pass, that,
when the spirit* rested upon them,
they prophesied, and did not cease.

Moses was being overwhelmed by the responsibilities of administering to the nation of the Hebrew people, pretty much by himself. At this point there were millions of Hebrew people, and Moses was acting as the sole leader and judge, deciding controversies that arose among them.

Moses prayed for relief:

Numbers 11:11-15
And Moses said unto the LORD,
Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant?
and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight,
that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?
Have I conceived all this people?
have I begotten them,
that thou shouldest say unto me,
Carry them in thy bosom,
as a nursing father beareth the sucking child,
unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?
Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people?
for they weep unto me,
saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.
I am not able to bear all this people alone,
because it is too heavy for me.
And if thou deal thus with me,
kill me, I pray thee, out of hand,
if I have found favour in thy sight;
and let me not see my wretchedness.

Moses was in great despair. Asking for God to end his life, rather than to continue carrying his heavy burden.

Seems to me that this may be tied to this New Testament verse:

Luke 10:2
Therefore said he unto them,
The harvest truly is great,
but the labourers are few:
pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest,
that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

When the laborers are few, pray for God to take the Spirit of outreach and spread it among others. Moses' spirit was not diminished by this multiplication, but his load was greatly reduced. . . In the end don't be afraid to ask for help from God. It is not your burden alone, it is His harvest.

Help us Lord with the harvest. . .
I love You my God. . .
