Jehovah-Adon Kal Ha'arets

Lord of all the Earth

Joshua 3:13
And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon a heap.

Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the greatest king of all? What is the greatest empire of man that the earth has ever seen? What ruler would hold the top spot in the Guinness list of greatest king of all time. Would it be Alexander the Great, some Roman emperor? Maybe strictly in terms of land area, the greatest Lord would be one of the Soviet leaders of cold-war era? In terms of population the Chinese leaders of today could argue the greatest kingdom in all the history of the world. Below is a map of the greatest extent of the Roman Empire:

This was one of the greatest empires of man and yet at its height only encompassed a tiny area of our world. Suppose some future conqueror succeeds where Alexander the Great, Napoleon, and Hitler all failed. Again, suppose this unknown conquestor, through mysterious means manages to subdue all the political entities on the earth and have the audacity to call himself the earth's supreme ruler. How would this empire compare with the empire of Jehovah-Adon Kal Ha'arets, the Lord of all the earth?

Our world is some 70% water. Merely being lord of the land, doesn't give you dominion over the the waters. Jesus, the one and only God, is ruler of not just land, not just political entities, not just people, but He is Lord of all the earth. The waters of the Jordan river pile up in a heap at His command in this verse. Not too many years before, God split the waters of the Red sea to make a way of escape for his chosen people, hundreds of years later a boat full of his disciples will cry out to Him in their despair and He will quiet the storm, calm the waters. What human ruler can even make make a fleece damp one night dry the next, let alone put a rainbow in the sky as a sign, cause it to rain for 40 days and 40 nights, or withhold rain for three years?

Our Lord, the true Lord of all the earth, did not conquer the earth. It was His from the beginning. Any who think to rule in this sphere, must either do so with His blessing or think to somehow wrest it from Him. Our Lord created the stars, the sky, the earth, and all that inhabit it. He is not only the Lord of countries, political systems and economies, but our Lord Jesus is the Lord of our health, Lord of our happiness, and even continues to be our Lord after we leave this domain and enter His heavenly kingdom.

Our Lord, the true Lord, provides for each of us, talks and listens to each of his subjects, knows each one by name, knows the number of the hairs upon our heads, knows us even when hidden from the world in our mother's womb. . . .loves us more than anyone else can ever hope to. . . . loves us when we aren't very loveable. . .

Thank you my Lord.
I bend my knee.
I confess with my tongue.
I submit totally to you. . .

Dave
