The Wide or Narrow Gate
I'm learning so much in our Wednesday morning Bible study. We are looking at the gospel of Matthew line by line.
In our latest meeting we studied Matthew chapter 7. In it Jesus warns us:
Matthew 7:15-16 NKJV "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
There will be those who dress in the clothing of sheep, but who are actually those whose purpose is to kill and devour sheep.
In the immediately preceding passage, Jesus tells us:
Matthew 7:13-14 NKJV "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Narrow is the gate, and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are FEW who find it. Which path are you on? The narrow, or the wide path?
So if your doctrine tells you that the way is easy, and there are MANY who find it, then I gently suggest to you that you may be listening to the doctrine of a wolf in sheep's clothing. . .
Later in the same chapter, Jesus continues:
Matthew 7:21-23 NKJV "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'
What a horrifically unbelievably disappointing day that will be for some. People who had been assured that they were going to heaven, without obeying God. . . continuing in sin. . . finding out that Jesus denies even knowing them. . . How horribly sad.
Make sure the path you are on is a righteous path, and not the easy and wide way which leads to destruction, that many are on. . . You alone will stand in front of the judgment seat, giving an account of your life. . .
God's Word is given to us as instruction and warning. Look to His Word for Truth. . .
I love You my God. . .
Thank You for Your Word. . .
